SPELT TORTILLA'S
I had so much fun teaching this class. It is a tortilla made out of spelt. Spelt is a wheat from the Ancient Tomb's. So it is the original wheat. If you have an illergic reaction to wheat "Spelt" is you answer. It is very simple to make, the recipe it is as follows:
TORITILLA RECIPE
Ingredients
4 1/2 cups of freshly ground spelt
1/3 cup of canola oil
1 and 1/2 teaspoons of salt
Mix together, then add
1 and 1/2 cups of water (the hottest that you can get from your fauset)
Directions
Make little balls about the size of golf ball. Put them on clean surface. I put them on a flex mat. Cover and leave for 30 minutes. If they are too sticky leave them covered for a few minutes then scoop them out with a cookie scoop and put on press. Which ever you chose to do it will work wonderfully. I use an electric tortilla press. They taste incredible. This tortilla is filled with black beans, brown rice, cheese, avacado's, tomato's, lettuce, sour cream, and I squeeze lime over the tortilla just in time to take a bit.
