LIFE ON THE FARM AS A CHILD

Growning up in a family where I was the only girl among so many boys was sometimes difficult, but sometimes so fun.  I wanted to do everything the boys did.  We had a loft  above the milking barn.  There was a lot of hay stacked up there. We would climb up in this loft and make little huts,  we would play all kinds of games. It was amazing at all the different places you could find to hide. We played for hours in that barn.  If we weren't hiding in the barn, you could find us on top of my Grandma Hairs chicken coop.  She would dry apricots on cheese cloth on the top of the chicken coop, we would eat them.  We knew that she would not be very happy with us if she knew we were up there taking her apricots, so we would pick and chose.  We would move the apricots around so she couldn't tell that we had been up there taking her apricots.  We thought we were so sneaky, but were we really.  It makes me laugh to think about it now.
